About Us

The concept of Elizabeth Manor House came about after travelling extensively both locally and overseas for business.  No longer wishing to stay in sterile and impersonal accommodation (usually located in noisy main streets) it became obvious that the best option was to seek accommodation providers who were not only centrally located, but also away from the “hustle and bustle” of town and city life.

A love affair with bed and breakfast facilities and boutique hotels was born, and it soon became clear that there were many like-minded people!  It would, however, take another ten years of travelling to fully appreciate the best of all accommodations visited and select the features that would serve best when designing the quintessential Country Manor House.

First the perfect setting had to be found and the rolling hills of the O’Connell Valley captured the heart.  Although in drought, the memory of how lush and green the area was when visited some fifteen years earlier was not forgotten.

Thirty private and tranquil acres were purchased in 2005.  Building commenced in June of 2006, but it would take another two and a half years before Elizabeth Manor House was completed and ready to receive her first guests.

Elizabeth Manor House sits at the highest point on the property.  The view from the back veranda often has guests reaching for their cameras. A short walk along the eastern boundary of the property will bring you to the Kings Dock Gully and also the ruins of the original homestead. Over 1000 native and ornamental trees have been planted to-date, along with formal hedging and garden beds.  In August 2010 the drought eased, and we are pleased to see the gardens now taking shape.

Whilst Elizabeth Manor House is a new building great care was taken during the design stage to ensure it met many traditional Georgian characteristics, such as a simple 2 story box design, 2 rooms deep, using strict symmetry arrangements, a centred panel front door topped with a rectangular window and capped with crown supported by pilasters and cornice embellished with decorative moldings, to name a few.

Inside the suites are individually themed.  All are large, comfortable, and fully self-contained.  Taking their names from monarchs who were all significant but vastly different.  Each experienced enormous triumphs and tragedy during their lives and reigns, but ultimately bought about monumental changes.

Each has a lounge and dining area and its own private bathroom with shower and claw-footed bath.  The kitchenettes are equipped with a large bar fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery.  All your breakfast needs are included in your room rate, as is fresh milk, tea and coffee. You are welcome to bring your own dinner provisions; alternately, we recommend the O’Connell Hotel for generous sized and well priced meals.
